Tetracaine (INN, also known as amethocaine; trade name Pontocaine. Ametop and Dicaine) is a potent local anesthetic of the ester group. Tetracaine hydrochloride (Tetra-kane hi-droh-clor-ride) is a medicine which is used in local anaesthesia of the eye.
